I am doing research in Current Market position of Sainsbury Supermarket. Information about their target market, competitors, marketing strategy, consumer satisfaction and behaviours etc.

Reply:I should imagine they are referring to where they ( sainsburys ) are in the list of the top supermarkets, Tescos are in the top position at present where as Sainsburys used to be a few years ago.Many things are taken into account ,ie profit/turnover,share price,consumer opinions etc,Should be good fun,hope they give you a nice hamper for Christmas.
Reply:Look up Michael Porter (1985). He did a lot of work on this type of thing.
From memory, he did the model of 5 forces and also did work on market position of organisations.

You have an interesting question, because if I remember correctly, Sainsburys was one of the criticisms of Porters model in that it was both low cost and quality! - which went against everything Porter said!
