Psychology degree....decisions decisions.....?

Im thinking of options post graduating to do with a single honors Psychology degree.

I have some experience in clinical but have decided not to pursue this as it appears stressful.

Is there such a vacancy as being a 'consumer psychologist'? I dont want to be stuck doing market research or a shop manager though.

I am particulary interested in advertising...do they value Psychology degree majors?

Psychology degree....decisions decisions.....?
Yes they do. I have a cousin that is working for a top ad agency that focuses on advertising/marketing for a car company. Most jobs will however require at least a master's degree. What you describe falls under "social psychology". Strength in statistics is a must. As you will be doing/intrepreting market research. (psy prof, Ph.D.)
Reply:Well, I don't think I can resolve your future for you.

You're likely worrying about it a bit much. Concern and planning are good.

Realize this, even though you prepare for a career, you cannot guarantee yourself exactly what job, position or career you will wind up in.

I'm sure that some corporations value psychologists input in their advertising efforts, or an advertising agency. But there seem to me to be more positions of a counseling sort available. But I don't have any statistics.

I would do this, if I were in your shoes, do some part-time research on careers for psychologists. Get some ideas. Maybe get some career counseling. Here's a place to start:

Reply:If you wanted to work in the area of business you could work as an occupational psychologist these focus upon optimizing work activity of workers and the work force as a whole. In order to create a more lucrative business they are often employed by large companies.

If looking into advertising you could try a social psychology route although whether the advertising companies employ psychology degree majors i am unsure. I know there is an area for marketing psychologists so maybe this is where you should look.
