Is it acceptable at Wal-Mart?

Keeping in mind your morals and ethical views as well as criticisms against Wal-Mart, do you, as a consumer find it ok to shop at there? Why or why not?

[I am trying to answer this question for my senior research project, and was trying to get some input.]

Is it acceptable at Wal-Mart?
I do my major shopping there about once every 6 weeks or so. I am a single parent, and I need to watch every penny I earn and spend. I do try to do some local shopping as well (I look for sales every week).

One thing I didn't notice mentioned by the others is, in addition to hiring college students and seniors, they also hire people with disabilities. Many places won't do that.

As far as what they sell, not ALL items are made in China. It is up to the consumer to check where the product is made.
Reply:I will say that while I shop there I find some of their tactics distasteful.Sadly, with the way the economy is today I need the price breaks they ( seem) to offer.

I draw the line on clothing though because Walmart EXPLOITS the poorest of the poor in other countries and unrelentingly looks for cheaper and cheaper sources for clothing despite how the workers are treated... I just don't need a $5.00 shirt at that cost!

I am personally distressed that people fail to realize that Walmart has caused numerous losses of " good" jobs in America. They will bring in a companies product and then hound that company to keep lowering the cost to Walmart...The company once contracted to Walmart wants to keep the contract so they lower the cost any way they can....They close their American factory ( lay off workers) and find a Chinese ( or other foreign ) company to make the item for low cost to their specs , with their name on it...So they can keep the contract...Only the price is NEVER low enough for Walmart so eventually they find a cheaper source and they walk away from the ruined company.

When Walmart can't get well known American brands for a low enough price they find a overseas product for very cheap....

My brother calls Walmart the Made in China outlet!

Want to read an EXCELLENT book on this subject ?-----%26gt; http://www.amazon.com/Wal-Mart-Effect-Po...
Reply:Wal-Mart has done a lot of good for a lot of people. Sam Walton was a tremendous person, a good boss, a kind man, and someone who stood up for his values.

Wal-Mart and Sam's Club have been noted for their policies of employing senior citizens. They provide a shopping environment that is family friendly, and they provide economical solutions to people who may not have a lot of extra money to spare in their budgets.

Give Wal-Mart a hand of applause. They do so much we take for granted.
Reply:Walmart has decent things at a fair price
Reply:If it was so unethical to shop there in the USA they wouldn't be allowed to be here. . . so I shop away.
Reply:I did a paper on this, too. It's not okay because all of their products (a said 70%) come from factories at China with poor work ethics and child labor. Also Wal-Mart monopolizes small towns and small businesses (and therefore communities) suffer. They also don't pay their employess what they should and they have practically zero benefits. No one should shop at Wal-Mart. As they say there is a high price for the low cost.
Reply:Yes. Walmart offers good products at a good price, it provides millions of jobs, it donates money to the community and expands the tax base. It is an example of American capitalism at its best. There is a reason that it is the nation's largest retailer. The criticisms I have heard of Wal-Mar do not make sense to me.

Poor pay and benefits? No one is forced to work there. Find a better paying job!

Puts Ma and Pop stores out of business? Wal-Mart forces no one out of business. Stores that go out of business fail to do things as well as Wal-Mart does them. It is called competition in the marketplace, which is always good for the consumer.

People complain that Wal-Mart forces companies to sell to them at lower prices. No one forces any company to do business with Wal-Mart. It is a choice that they make.
Reply:My husband and I don`t shop at Walmart for different reasons. He believes that Walmart takes business away from local small businesses, and that they treat their workers terribly. I hate the busy atmosphere (especially shopping with my preschooler), and would rather pay the extra bit of money to have a less hectic shopping experience.

If this is for research, some colleagues of mine also snub Walmart, classifying the clientele as rude and "lowbrow".
Reply:I try to avoid Wal-Mart at all costs due to the very commercialized nature of the shopping experience.
Reply:It will be silly not to shop at the big supermarkets for ethical reasons because prices are much cheaper there.
Reply:I shop at Wal-Mart. I honestly see nothing wrong with shopping there. It offers low prices and for a fulltime college student with two jobs I need low prices. I would suggest watching the television show Pen %26amp; Teller Bullsh*it they have an episode about Wal-mart and how it actually benefits our economy. Good luck on your project
Reply:One side that I rarely see mentioned is how Wal-Mart has effectively raised the living standards of millions of lower-income Americans whose dollars wouldn't go as far if they had to go elsewhere.

And with things like clothing -- it's not just Wal-Mart. Good luck trying to find any (at least outside the more upscale clothing and department stores) that aren't made in some third-world country.

But for those who can easily afford to shop elsewhere -- especially the mom-n-pop stores -- there's something to be said for doing so
Reply:I see nothing pro or con re: morals or ethics in shopping at Walmart; I shop there because they every single thing under one roof and because they have excellent customer service and return policy you never have to worry about anything you buy there because you can always return it or exchange it and they have the best assortment of everything I need at the best price. I think people who look down on Walmart are low class snobs.
Reply:I shop there all the time. I work too hard for my money to pay higher prices for the same items somewhere else.
Reply:Where I live the people who shop at

wal mart are the people who are addicts, homeless, and on welfare( the people who abuse the system). So if you tell people you shop at wal mart your looked at differently. Besides, we have a target and its nice and clean.
Reply:wal-mart is my mom and grandma's 2nd home, they can spend hours just looking around at stuff they ain't gone buy. i like the store too
Reply:I don't think that it is wrong to shop at Wal-Mart. I just prefer Target. They have a Starbucks as you walk in so you can do some nice, civilized shopping while holding a hot latte and it's clean and organized with lots of great stuff to look at. The bathrooms are clean and I am treated like a customer that makes a difference instead of just one of the masses at Wal-Mart.
Reply:Wal-mart has good prices. I shop there sometimes.

Teen Life Today? TV, Clothes???
Hello Ryan

I asked my 14 year old daughter about your question. After some thought, she stated her belief that you are boring, your questions are totally bogus, and you need to get a life - real projects such as this have paid panels.

sorry
Reply:wow, the best answer was harsh! Talk about a bad dad! Report Abuse

Reply:ok, i am 13. so im not sure if the different states/cities have different trends. this is my opinion:

1.depends. abercrombie,hollister,victoria's secret,forever 21,wet seal, hot topic,ect.

2. alot of SODA! starbucks, and pizza (anything junk! haha)

3. PROACTIV works great for acne, any shampoo, sephora makeup, and bath and body works

4.RAZR,choclate(verizon),video ipod,ipod nano,apple

5.myspace.com is #1 in my school for girls and guys. piczo.com is mostly used by the girls. tumbling,football,cheerleading,lacrosse,... skating are big sports. most teens now days hang out at the mall, peoples houses, movies, and most important: HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAMES!

6. teens these days. its very complicated in this age. nowadays, no one knows who to trust, who to look up to,how to act. there is so much drama going on in school. but it helps develop character. the adults think they know;they dont. most of my friends hide so much from their parents. there is anything out there;especially on the internet. peer pressure is sky-rocketing. teens seem to get all the blame all the time because they are easy to blame. its tough; tough for the parents too.

good luck with your project!!

hope i helped. any questions email me :

Is capitalism killing america?

watch video:

Surplus: Terrorized into Being Consumers - 1 of 7

HERE'S THE LINK: ( I apologize!)

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_qu...

how do you feel about being a consumer? i personally hate that word.........

and i don't constitute sitting behind a desk typing on a computer "hard work", rather hard work comes from the cheap labor from china working 15 hours to build the keyboard you are typing on and the shoes you are wearing for pennies........

and if capitalism not democracy has made american the greatest nation in the world - then it has done more harm to america then even i could have predicted........

"For the LOVE of money is the ROOT of all EVIL"

1 Timothy 6:10

businesses love money, do they not?

do businesses like exxon want us off of oil when their profits are exceeding into the BILLIONS and hydrogen would literally make gas FIFTY CENTS a gallon?

too much of anything is bad:research the great depression!

Is capitalism killing america?
no.
Reply:Capitalism has made products made in America very expensive prompting manufacturers to build their factories in China for cheap labor. Thus, China is now booming as a economy with the US as one of its debtor country.
Reply:Capitalism isn't the problem

Lousy ethics are the problem.

It originates with people, not with the economic system.

.
Reply:The US has always been a Capitalist Nation. Capitalism is what made our economy so strong. It is regulation that is killing our country. We regulate everything so much that we have driven manufacturing right out of the country.

I find it kind of funny that you mention Exxon, who is controlled by Venezuela. Oops...
Reply:Capitalism kills everything and eventually buggers of to cheaper parts of the world.

.
Reply:america is capitalism. it is freedom to the max! china just proved that america or democracy isn't for everyone. and you know, i believe that china is right. look at those countries colonized/ occupied by the usa, how are their economies? look at the philippines? their economy is one of the poorest - reason why all filipinos are going abroad for work. and who's fault is that? of course - the usa, because they shoved democracy into the filipinos, letting them believed that it is their savior.

so do not whine about costs and how bad your day is. instead celebrate democracy because that is what uncle sam wants you to do.
Reply:Yes , because it has taken over our Government and buy our elected politicians .

We don't really have a say any more .
Reply:Capitalism is economically killing Americans. Americans have a high rate of personal debt. This is made worse by the capitalist law of supply and demand. The same products are sold for different prices in different countries, depending on the country's wealth, and on its consumer demand for the variously priced products. Americans tend to tolerate higher prices than third world persons. Because Americans think that they can afford the products, without considering that they are paying more than others for the same products, they continue to demand the comparatively more expensive products. This contributes to the luxury driven American culture which sets high material standards for personal success that are difficult to obtain. Therefore, the more affluent the country, the more its consumers pay for the same products, the more luxuries their culture demands from them to prove their success, and the more personal debt they accumulate as they try to look successful. It is a bad economic situation that Americans can easily fall into and with severe difficulty get out of.
Reply:no its great and you sound very liberal you might need mental help
Reply:"Is capitalism killing america?"

Only as it applies to how our government is currently being run...
Reply:Well let's look at it this way... America is the most capitalistic of all the courtries in the world.

It also has the most freedom. The people of this country give more to charity than any other. The also have more humanitarian organizations and give more in foreign aid than any other.

China is one of the most oppressive and regulatory governments in the world. They have communism, not capitalism. We could stop all imports from China, and boycott all the sweat shops, but it's government would still prevent it's people from being prosperous. The Chinese work the sweat shops because their goverment makes it nearly impossible for anyone there to start their own business and to succeed. Freedom and capitalism are two sides on the same coin.
Reply:Green is the new Red ! Communism (global warming scam) and political correctness is destroying us faster
Reply:why dont you go to venezuela to get a little taste of "socialism" if you feel so harshly about capitalism. the french have obviously reconsidered now..... no more freedom fries!! lol.

My parents filed for bankruptcy and foreclosure once, what happens if our house goes on foreclosure again?

My parents just filed a mortgage with Option One along with a loan from a small company called Residential Access. I research Option One online and found many many many consumer complaints on them. Almost all of the complaints have said that they resulted in foreclosure after filing with them.

What do I tell my parents to do seeing the problems they are going to get into? We have already been in foreclosure (with another company) once and I don't know what will happen if Option One will send us to foreclosure.

How can I prevent this from happening? Can my parents switch to another mortgage company?

PLEASE HELP! my parents are not fluent in english so I have to help them with all this and I am fresh out of high school starting college so I have no idea how the mortgaging and financing system works.

My parents filed for bankruptcy and foreclosure once, what happens if our house goes on foreclosure again?
talk to a loan officer at you local back...he will guide you to your best options. One good thing right now...so many homes are in 'foreclosure' that the mortgage companies can't get to them all ..

sooner or later..you're going to have a problem, but maybe not for awhile. Talk to the loan officer at the bank.. good luck..your parents are so lucky to have a kid like you!!! ♥
Reply:Thing to do is to make ALL payments in full and on time. Then there's no foreclosure issue. IF some one loses a job and they're unable to make full payments, they should never NOT make a monthly payment, but always pay something. If there's any extra money, extra payments of principal should be made on the loan with the higher interest rate, even $50 a month, $100 every other month, $500 from your tax refund.

They would be better off having gotten one loan for the property rather than 2 loans. Hopefully they got a fixed rate loan for the main loan, although the second, smaller loan is probably adjustable. Interest rates are very low right now, so that's not a current problem.

Yes, your parents could switch to another company, but there are application fees and closing costs involved. You should have been more active BEFORE they did this new loan.

Is there a consumer advocacy or immigrant help group nearby? If so, go with your parents and all their paperwork and see what your options are, what they recommend. Make sure this is a reputable, NONPROFIT organization, or you're getting into deeper trouble.

China to hike gasoline, diesel by 10-11 pct on May 24?

(Reuters, May 23 ,2006)BEIJING - China will raise retail gasoline and diesel prices from Wednesday to take them 15 percent higher so far this year, not enough to stop refiners from making losses and likely to slightly hit consumer demand growth. The increases mean the retail price of gasoline and diesel will rise by 500 yuan ($62.37) per tonne, up 9.6 and 11.1 percent, and ex-refinery prices for the motor fuels will go up by the same margin, an industry official told Reuters on Tuesday.

"Increases at this level could hurt demand. Industrial users will have to struggle to pass on the cost to their customers, or will be forced to switch to cheaper fuels," said the industry official with top refiner Sinopec Corp.

Shares of China's largest refiner Sinopec (0386.HK: Quote, Profile, Research) climbed 3.31 percent at HK$4.675 on Tuesday, while PetroChina (0857.HK: Quote, Profile, Research) rose 1.2 source:http://www.zoomchina.com.cn/index.php?/c...

China to hike gasoline, diesel by 10-11 pct on May 24?
Looks like months-old news to me. What's your point?
Reply:How does this affect you? Can you delineate strategic global implications and also the existing oil situation of the world today? That would really benefit all of us. Reuters reports and other reports too, duly updated, are already available to most of us.
Reply:the best solution is to find alternative to gasoline maybe engine .....by water.

Mallard Duck?

I am doing a biology research paper on the Mallard Duck...and I need some help.

1. What is the worldwide population of the Mallard?

2. What are the parts of their anatomy that enable them to catch/harvest their food supply.

3. How does the Mallard benefit mankind or the Environment?

4. Is the Mallard a primary consumer or secondary consumer?

Thank you soo much!

Mallard Duck?
I would check with the Audubon society about the population statistics for this species. I think in N. America the population is about 9 million.

The Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) is the ancestor of almost all of the varieties of domestic ducks. Domestic ducks belong to the subfamily Anatinae of the waterfowl family Anatidae. The wild mallard and Muscovy duck (Cairina moschata) are believed to be the ancestors of all domestic ducks. The Mallard inhabits most wetlands, including parks, small ponds and rivers, and usually feeds by dabbling for plant food or grazing; there are reports of it eating frogs. They use their beaks to feed and are surface feeding ducks, and don't usually dive to eat. The mallard feeds by "tipping up" and reaching below the surface with its bill in the shallows of ponds, lakes, streams and swamps. Mallards can feed anywhere that water is a foot or two deep, although they can reach for food in deeper water if necessary. Mallards are primarily vegetarians who eat various seeds including corn, wheat, barley, bulrushes, wild rice, primrose, willow, seeds of water elm, oak, hackberry and other trees of swamps or river bottoms. Mallards will also eat some mollusks, insects, small fish, tadpoles, freshwater snails and fish eggs.

Release of feral Mallard Ducks worldwide is creating havoc on indigenous waterfowl, these don't migrate and stay back in the local breeding season and interbreed with indigenous rare wild ducks devastating local populations of closely related species through genetic pollution by producing fertile offspring.

Are Christmas trees "painted"?

Hi... I read this article about christmas tree tinting and it claims that the coating that is sprayed on is merely a "sunscreen" that preserves the color, and "By the time a Christmas Tree is harvested around Thanksgiving and put up, the colorant is gone."

However from my research it appears that the colorant is actually dark green and "will not wash off, wear off, or fade in sunlight"

"Prior to delivery, our pines are sprayed with a permanent colorant "

"Some consumers may object to the artificial color, but most demand it. "

So it looks to me like many species of Christmas trees are sprayed with a colorant that actually is like paint and not like sunscreen. Can I get some experts to verify?

Are Christmas trees "painted"?
Granny's right nice job, taught me a thing or two. I guess I don't give it much thought, being a bachelor. I usually don't bring a tree in for the holidays, I just put up exterior lights on one of the trees I can see from the recliner. Thank god nobody has gone retro and started "flocking" them like in the 60's! RScott
Reply:I'm no expert, but yes they do spray tint the trees that are marketable but do not have good color. There is also a spray that they put on young transplants for possible winter damage to protect it. It is a waxy substance.

I'm all about free enterprise...so I shop at Wal-Mart...
Reply:I do not shop at walmart, because If i give them my money, and let them profit more.. then I become part of the problem.

I have not stepped foot in one in over 5 years, and have been very verbal about my dislike of them.

Countless lawsuits for labor violations, forced working off the clock without pay, stealing time from their employees.. All combined with the lack of benefits or a livable wage.

Their abuse of emminent domain, and targeted losses have costed many communitites more than a few dollar signs.

Once thier monopoly is established in a area, they jack the prices up and abuse their position.

Its simple.. just ask youself.. if they had "always low prices" How did each of sam's kids %26amp; wife get 18 billion EACH when he died? Their wealth, comes out of the pockets of those who can not afford luxuries of their own.

Sam, wanted to build up our nation.. to build up our towns, and made walmart great... There was a time, when walmart proudly displayed MADE IN AMERICA on their products...

They lost their patriotism when sam died.. and have now sold our country to china.
Reply:one poster mentioned that Wlamart doesn't give their full time employees health benefits, while this is true, most of the major retailers do not give health benefits either.

Their employees choose to work there. I like the lower prices, but I spread my money around to Target too. They always have better parking.
Reply:a lot of people feel that it is wrong because the evil giant is putting people out of jobs. However, with the higher prices elsewhere , people who are in low income families cannot shop elsewhere. It is like a paradox. If walmart went belly-up, then people would buy stuff at higher prices and still have low incomes.

People knock wal mart, but when you think about it what would each of us do/ Even the government "shops" for lower bids on building things.

How many of us would pay someone 20 bucks an hour to stuff money in the register? No one. We want the lowest price, and want to save money. The folks in charge of walmart want one thing.. money. They know if they loose one person, there are 20 more to take thier place.
Reply:Personally, I don't shop there. I shop at Costco. Costco starts their employees off at $10.25 per hour.
Reply:i think it is perfectly ok to shop there. some of us have no choice. they do have good prices on a lot of stuff, and if it means saving enough money to be able to afford something else you might otherwise not be able to afford, then so be it.
Reply:The question appears to be about ethics.

Walmart is not allowed by law to make its decisions based on the interest of mom and pop competitors, and the mom and pop competitors do not make their decisions with either each other not Walmart in mind.

All corporations attempt to provide customers with whatever level of service they must to retain business, while keeping the cost as low as they can. My recollection of most small businesses is that they have never been all that great as employers. So we have to compare Walmart with Macdonalds Restaurants, Burger King, K-Mart, and on and on.

If your complaint were that your ethnic group was being discriminated against in many other companies, Walmart at least appears to be an equal opportunity exploiter. That fact appears to be seen as a bad thing by many people?

Walmart came onto the market in a big way when China was coming to the fore as a supplier of goods. The ethical question here is should we continue to freeze out China and Chinese goods?

Now this is the ethical question, do we owe equal treatment to people who live outside our borders? Do we have an ethical duty to prevent our people from buying low priced goods made elsewhere? Or does our customer have to make that ethical decision for herself?

Clearly, Walmart has made the decision that the customer has to make the ethical decision.

As a customer with an ethical base, I will go to Walmart and make my own decision. By that I do not mean I will not buy products made in China,

I will avoid buying anything produced with near slave labor if I know of it.

But refusal to buy Chinese per se may send a signal to further cut prices, further cut wages.

That does not have a strong ethical base.
Reply:I dont like to shop there for the fact its grossely mass merchandised and there is nothing unique. Most of it is cheaply made, and its horrible to forget something on one side of the store and have to go the mile back from the other side to get it. Now you forget another thing and you have to go all the way back again. I suppose shopping at walmart could save you a gym membership. I also dont like the air quality, the store is so huge that its bad, and in the grocery section my eyes always get extremely dry and bloodshot which never happens at the locally owned ones and their cleaning section is seriously toxic. MY family members cant even go in that aisle because its suffocating and always smells really strong.

Its not even that cheap either. Like the grocery store I shop at their food is cheaper than supper walmart except for things like the cereal and some kinds of crackers but otherwise their meat and dairy is way more. Id support the little guys over them anyday.
Reply:Yes I find it fine to shop there. Not only do they have low prices but I can get my oil changed, grocery shop, bank and get a hair cut all in one store. I find the people to be helpful and friendly and I could care less about what goes on in corporate wally world as long as I can still get shampoo for 8 cents cheaper then the grocery store :D
Reply:i do not use wal-mart - not for ethical reasons - it's just too much of a zoo for me - it's a nasty place - couldn't work there - for ethical and moral reasons - but our society is very lacking in ethics and morals - so it's understandable that w-m is usually full of "consumers" - if they're not at wal-mart they'd just be somewhere else - there's a bottom to every barrel - wal-mart's it !!
Reply:Any wal mart haters really need to watch the episode of Penn %26amp; Teller covering the subject. Wal mart, while destroying small town businesses, is creating jobs for millions of americans, many who could not have found work outside of wal mart. Secondly, their use of sweat shops offers jobs to MILLIONS of foreigners that have absolutely no chance of making money any other way. Sure they dont pay worth a crap, but thats still more than they would make without it. Would you rather a 13 year old girl be making wal mart brand t-shirts or being a prostitute? These are the kinds of desicions that many people don't think about when they jump to conclusions and say that Wal-Mart is evil. Sure, they have single handedly nearly extinguished the old 50's lifestyle of mom and pop retail stores, but what is so bad about better prices and the convenience of being able to get everything you need in one place as opposed to driving all over town?
Reply:I prefer to shop elsewhere but I live in a small town and sometimes only WalMart carries what I'm looking for. I rationalize that WalMart does employ a lot of local people who need jobs.
Reply:i refuse to shop at wal-mart
Reply:I hate Wal-mart because of what it does to small business. But it is just so damn convenient.
Reply:I shop at Target the prices are the same except the ones at the end of the aisles. Plus get my groceries at a food store its alot cheaper and their next to each other same amount of walking.
Reply:As much as I wouldn't want to have the "mom and pop" grocery go out of business the truth is money is money and walmart delivers. They DO have cheaper prices and it IS a one stop shop.
Reply:i don't like all of the nasty people and lack of english speaking humans that shop there. i feel like i need to shower whenever I go into one.
Reply:I personally do shop at Walmart. I like the core principals that Sam Walton started...even though he was one of the richest men in the US, he lived like he had nothing. On business trips, everyone, including the boss, flew coach, and hotel rooms were always shared. Even a cup of coffee at the office required a 10-cent contribution to the tin. Government could learn something from him.

He didn't live like today's society does with instant everything, including instant gratification. In order to make a profit in business (why else would you be in business??), he didn't pay (still doesn't) employees much. Walmart does on a larger scale what MANY mom/pop business do just to survive.

So, Walmart is an American success story, even if people don't like how it got there. It wouldn't have survived to become as big as it is today if he didn't do something right.
Reply:Not only do I shop at Wal-Mart but my husband and several of the moms at my childcare work for Wal-Mart... We all have health insurance. I don't know what the guy who said they don't provide it for full time employees is talking about..... They do. we also have 401K's, stocks, incentives and many other things... They support our troops and they support charities.... Also I have seen them step up and help many a family in need.... When my cousins twins were born they knew there was a chance they wouldn't survive... Wal-Mart took out a life insurance policy for the twins on the parents behalf, with out the parents knowing.... We did lose one of the precious angels but what a blessing it was for the parents not to have to worry about the money part of it..... I shop at Wal-Mart they are a big corporation and they make mistakes but so do all the other ones.....
Reply:It's fine to shop their but it is completely horrible experience. Nascar fans and people in jazzies try to push me out of my their way when I wasn't even in it to begin with. Personally, I find shopping at Target much more enjoyable.
Reply:I do shop at Walmart. I don't like the ethics and morals of a lot of huge corporations (including the one I work for), but I need to make a living, and I need to live within my means. The things we don't like that we've all heard about Walmart exist in all sorts of other ways at corporations all over the world. Lending and banking policies are heavily criticized as well, but we still all need to bank, mortgage, etc.
Reply:Walmart is a pain in the keister! It's pretty much all we have where I live though. Kmart is a joke, we have 2 WAY OVER PRICED drug stores and the mall is an hour away, so it's Walmart. Parking is a joke, trying to shop when women and their bratty children aren't behaving is a joke, merchandise is out, never gets stocked, or you want something one day, the next day its not there, won't ever be delivered again, selection stinks. Was told by an employee, it's one of the smallest Walmarts in my state and that's why nothing is ever in stock.

A certain politician has her hands in Walmarts pockets, it's all Chinese, and I'm still stuck on other shoppers, I swear when they enter Walmart, their IQ drops to a negative number.
Reply:It is acceptable to shop at Wal-mart that is if you want to put the small guys out of business. I personally try to purchase my food products at a smaller grocery store chain because I feel Wal-mart has become greedy. Sam Walton would probably be sick if he knew what they have done with his empire. He did not base it on greed. Not only that 9 times out of 10 you will be overcharged at least one item or more everytime you check out. I know it's happened to me 9 times out of 10. I usually go to a check out where i have time to get my items on the belt so i can watch each item being scanned for pricing. More people should do this and they would find out they are being ripped off!!! Their rollback pricing is bull!! I worked there, it's a scam. That's my personal opinion!! We shouldn't let the small guys go out of business because of Wal-Mart's greed!!
Reply:ya i like shopping at wal-mart, just what sucks is if you ask for help sometimes none of the workers can speak english!
Reply:yes its perfectly fine for me. Infact its very convinient to be able to find basically everything under one roof. And I dont have to drive that far either. Moreover the stuff is cheaper that most other stores. I love Walmart.
Reply:i like shopping there it fits my budget. what i cant stand are the grown kids that run around and yell and scream and run into people and the parents just sit there and let it happen
Reply:i dislike shopping at wal mart because of the way they treat there employees for instance a full time employee gets no health benefits at all

Is there a proliferation of...?

products in the market so that the consumer is too confused to make an educated choice?

From cars to TVs even orange juice and shampoo there are by far too many products to be able to do a diligent research on and reach a decision. Am I the only one perplexed with the market place?

Is there a proliferation of...?
The previous answer is incorrect.

TOO MUCH CHOICE IS AS BAD AS NOT ENOUGH CHOICE.

You are quite right there is no need for 70 different types of orange juice and when retailers start doing this they are normally headed for trouble.

Having that much choice on one product line ties up a lot of cash in stock holding and makes the balance sheet heavy.

Normally the next step would be to reduce the product range down to the top 20 best selling lines to increase customer spend and drive effieciency.

Eg

Orange juices 1 -10 might sell 300,000 units

but Orange Juice number 65 might just sell 5 units.

There is no clear commercial reason for stocking orange juice no. 65 as it is taking up too much shelve space and could be replaced with something more profitable.

If you give the customer TOO much choice they will buy nothing as they are overwhelmed by the choices available and won't be able to take a rational decision in the small amount of time they have to shop.

Remember customers have got other things to do as well as shop!

Too much of one line is very bad, but if the store were to introduce say pear juice (!!) or other types of juices it did not currently stock then that would be fine as it would be offering the customer an increased choice of a DIFFERENT product!

You are right!! Because you are the customer (Although I think you work there as well) and even YOU have noticed that it is TOO much choice, so what must other customers be thinking!!!
Reply:The proliferation of products actually provides the consumer more of a choice and allows people to get exactly what they want (or think they want). I wouldn't want to go to the store and find only one brand of organge juice - I have my favorites, as does everyone else. And the competition between products helps keep products fresh and prices competitive. People use their preferences and experiences in making purchasing decisions, and the size of the options available doesn't make it any more difficult.

Rewarding ID Theft prevention?

I did a research about ID Theft and found interesting thing:

- if you recover data + hardware "combo" - then you are a hero .. you will get a reward from $10K-$100K

- if you recover just data - then you are a "hacker" and should go to jail.

There is no such thing as "reward for ID theft" and it makes me think that the whole ID theft thing is nothing, but another way to collect money from consumer .. this time to indure ID from being stolen. Am I paranoid?

Rewarding ID Theft prevention?
If you believe you've been scammed, file your complaint at ftc.gov, and then visit the FTC's Identity Theft website at http://www.consumer.gov/idtheft. Victims of phishing can become victims of identity theft.

Do you ever feel guilty for spending money on things you want as opposed to giving it to people who need it?

I often feel guilty for spending money on things I don't need when I know I could invest a lot of that money in charities, organizations, research centers, etc. which help people who lack basic necessities like food and water or contribute to our understanding of how to fight disease and poverty. Whenever I buy new clothes I don't need or spend more money on a car than I need to...or the fact that I live in a house that is more than enough room for me..I just feel guilty. I feel like we're all so selfish and only care about being greedy consumers instead of caring about people who really need help just to live. I wish I didn't feel guilty so often...but I do. Still, it's so hard to give up putting myself and my desires first. Does anyone else struggle with this?

Do you ever feel guilty for spending money on things you want as opposed to giving it to people who need it?
I used to struggle with this, and still occasionally do.

You sound like the guilt is what's truly wracking you- what's upsetting you and keeping you from enjoying your life, not the actual fact that you're not contributing- since if this was the true case, you probably would have mentioned that you donate x amount and volunteer at x place once in a while.

If you truly think you feel the guilt, then suck it up and go donate the extra $$ you have, or go work a year in a third world country, or volunteer at one of the organizations-and don't say how hard it would be to do it- yeah it's hard, but completely doable (and very gratifying).

Sorry if you came here expecting to find empathy, but your post holds a feeling of self-righteous whining and does not contain any real evidence that you took action into your own hands, just sat around moping about the fact that you COULD HAVE given/helped, instead of being in the situation of actually giving, then feeling guilty that you couldn't give more.

But I give you a pat on the back for at least feeling the guilt. Take some action and I'll applaude you next time.

Good luck!
Reply:Just do both
Reply:Personally I do not feel bad for spending the money that I work extremely hard for every month on something for me. I do believe it is okay to give, but there are so many government funded programs out there that we pay for to the point that it is ridiculous.

We bust our butts for people to take advanatge of these programs, so excuse me if I say DAMN that....I spoil my self with the little money the government does not take.
Reply:I dont feel a bit guilty. My job as a social worker has me seeing the poor every day. I gladly give them our tax dollars, but I damn sure wont give a penny of what I earn. Online Poll - HD DVD vs. Blu Ray?

I'm taking a poll right now to see if the average consumer knows the difference between HD DVD and Blu Ray. (Yes or No) If your answer is yes, please write what you know.

Additional question:

Which would you buy - HD DVD or Blu Ray?

Note: Please do not do any research before answering this question, or copy and paste. This is based on the consumer's first reaction to the product.

Thanks for your response!

Online Poll - HD DVD vs. Blu Ray?
I work at Best Buy, In Home Theather and I get asked this question daily.

It doesnt depend so much on the player, it depends on the TV. You need to purchase a GOOD 1080p HD TV. Top of the line product in LCDs: Sony, Samsung Sharp. Plasma: Poineer, Panasonic, and Samsung.

But heres something to consider,

*Blockbuster will only be renting HD DVDs in future.

* HD DVD players are cheaper than Blu Ray

* And there ARE combination players but they cost around $1000-$1200
Reply:Blu Ray!

http://technology.timesonline.co.uk/tol/...

Warner Bros has joined Blu-ray and the only reason other companies joined HD-DVD was because they had a multi- millionare incentive so it seems HD-DVD is very desperate to stay alive.
Reply:Blu Ray! Because Warner just switched to exlusively deal with Blu Ray. Plus the TV show LOST is on blu ray.
Reply:BR for me
Reply:to me i personaly like the blu-ray but it dosent have that big of titles but i think hd-dvd is better between the battle becuase i dont think that blu-ray will last as long as hd-dvd because look at all the movies that has came out for the hd-dvd compered to the blu-ray player yeah thats alot of movies compared to the to players
Reply:Blu-Ray all the way =)! n some big coorp just went exclusive for BR... I can't recall which one though...does anybody knows?
Reply:I still use Beta Max. It rocks!!
Reply:Although Blu Ray probably is better than HD DVD in terms of both surround sound and capability, I still think HD DVD is the better choice. There are far more choices of movies with HD DVD, and I really don't think Blu Ray is going to last as long.
Reply:hd dvd, the name sounds good.
Reply:hmmm

okay what i know all about b-ray disc popularly known as BD havestorage capacity of 40GB on single layer

where as HD DVD have 20 gb on single layer and 40 gb on dual layer

bd as well as hd dvd requires seperate player to play them

abt cost m not sure of hd dvd but bd player costs you Rs.40000

We signed a form not knowing it was a binding contract... did we get scammed?

We signed a form from a used car dealer in NY state. We were looking at 2 different used cars and the guy told us that he will fill out all the information for us so when we go to the bank it will be easy to get a loan. He told us it wasn't binding and just said it was to help the process along. I got home and was going to research the cars VIN #'s as well as consumer reports and started to read the form. It says on the top "This aggreement is not binding unless signed by the seller and the buyer." He told us point blank this was not a binding contract, however we have both signed. I am freaking out because we do not want to buy these cars, defenitly not 2!!!! Did we just get scammed? What do we do? I am thinking of going back tomorrow and asking him if he can rip up his copy because we are not sure what we are doing. What should be do?????

We signed a form not knowing it was a binding contract... did we get scammed?
Hello Jenna. First rule of legal dealings,,,,,read the fineprint. I am sure you already know this now though and it wont happen again.

More to the point here is that most states (and I am NOT familiar with NY) have a three day cancellation clause for "buyer's remorse" providing you have NOT taken possession of the vehicle.

First thing, go back to the dealer and inform them you are not interested in buying anything from them in light of how they do business. Sign nothing else with them and do not process loan paperwork at any bank. As long as this doesnt go any further, you shouldnt have any further liability issues with this dealer.

Best of luck to you and I hope you can find this useful
Reply:The contract isn't effective until you take reciept of final product. IE Don't take the car and the contract is void.

I really think that the seller is only helping. Sounds more like preprinted legal boilerplate than any sort of scam.

Who is ConAgra's target market?

I'm working on a marketing research project for ConAgra foods. This company holds several food brands such as Peterpan Peanut Butter, JiffyPop, ACT II, Slim Jim, Hunts, and many more.

I am trying to determine who ConAgra's target market is. At first I thought it would just be the consumers, but really isn't it the grocery stores? I'm not sure. If anyone can PLEASE help me with this it would be great. Also if you could provide links etc to help me on my research you would be a blessing.

Thanks.

Who is ConAgra's target market?
Target market for Consumer Foods is consumers, Channel: Retailers

Target market for Commercial Products: foodservice establishments and commercial customers worldwide

Target market for International Line: Consumers, Channel: International Retailers.
Reply:I guess ConAgra has two main groups of customers. One is buyers of the food products they produce, distributors, stores and retail consumers.

But I think they are also big in the ag production area as both suppliers to, and customers of, farmers and ranchers. Fertilizer, pesticides, feed, and maybe seed are sold to farmers and ranchers and ConAgra buys the products such as wheat, barley, livestock, etc.
Reply:ConAgra's first target is the agro-business world-wide. From seeds to fertilizer; mostly large imports of farm and food commodities. Their goal is to control the world's seed markets (bio-genetics)...by controlling the seeds they control the farmers and certainly the foods they produce. That's is their main goal... Their next logical target is the consumer...they cannot push their product if the consumer dont ask for it... Once they have the consumer asking for their product they can then move in an control the grocery stores... Certainly that by controlling the grocery stores they can push their products by excluding the competition but that would be more difficult to do.....

Never sign ANYTHING that you have not read.....That is just stupid to do it..Im sorry, but it really is.. I would not worry about it though, since you have not set up the loan yet..

There is not a cooling off period on automobile contracts..The guy who says that it is needs to read the laws on that..Those laws are right here on the internet also..

Good Luck!
Reply:To the first responder.....get a clue. There is NO cooling off period for contracts signed outside of the home. I really get tired of people saying there is because it gives false hope. To the asker.....Never sign something you have not read and fully understand. It sounds like a purchase order, which is not an actual financing contract stating you will pay a certain amount on a certain date. Just call the dealer and have them explain.
Reply:I'm sure he doesn't think you are buying two cars. You couldn't, anyway, because my guess is that the bank wouldn't approve two loans at the same time for you. Don't stress. Call him tomorrow morning.
Reply:There is no cooling off period in the US regarding auto purchases. It doesn't matter what the salesman told you. YOU SHOULD HAVE READ WHAT YOU WERE SIGNING. The first thing a judge would ask is "did you read the contract before signing it"? You'd say "no" and the judge would say "case dismissed".
Reply:There is allways a 24-72 hr cooling off period in which you can back out of a deal. At least there is in a Canadian society. Maybe down south , it`s everyone for themselves. Damn I glad I`m not a redneck
Reply:First of all..that was dumb on your part but you already knew that.

Have you talked to the dealership yet? It sounds to me like you are jumping to conclusions. DO NOT WORRY. Have you signed loan papers yet? Credit applications? Title Applications??? No, you have not. All you signed was a worthless piece of paper with some numbers on it.

What you signed is called a Buyers Order. It lays out all costs and fees associated with the transaction so the bank knows what they are loaning money for and for how much. The dealer probably had you sign two just in case one was out of your price range. Most (if not all) automobile contracts are void in the event the purchaser is not able to produce adequate funding either by cash or finance. I'll spare you the boring details and just tell you to R-E-L-A-X.

To the first guy that answered...you have no idea what you are talking about. Absolutely NO such law exists.
Reply:Just back out of the deal and tear the contract up and tell the dealer to bite you. And off you go.

Drive safe.

Liberal 'Evening News' Blames Drug Industry for TB Scare?

'Evening News' Blames Drug Industry for TB Scare

CBS reporter cites lack of vaccine development but excludes industry rebuttal.

The tuberculosis scare led all three major network news broadcasts on May 31. But CBS “Evening News” pointed fingers at one of the network’s favorite targets, the pharmaceutical industry.

Reporter Nancy Cordes compared the lack of vaccinations and treatments of this specific strain of tuberculosis to other “fast-moving infectious diseases,” including SARS, West Nile Virus and Avian Flu.

She followed with the blame game. “Why haven’t more drugs been developed to fight disease with the potential to kill thousands?” asked Cordes, the network’s Transportation and Consumer Safety correspondent.

“Pharmaceutical companies live to make a profit and if antibiotics, for example, because they’re used for usually 7 to 14 days, maybe as long as a month, can’t generate the same kind of profits as a new cholesterol agent or the new Viagra, which a person might take for years,” said Dr. Eric Nuermberger, an assistant professor of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.

The Associated Press reported that only two other patients with this drug-resistant strain of tuberculosis have been treated at National Jewish Hospital since 2000. With only three cases documented in the last seven years, it would be difficult for the pharmaceutical industry have developed vaccination and treatment for this specific strain. That was a point CBS did not make.

The CBS story also neglected to include a response from the pharmaceutical industry about its development of medications for infectious diseases.

However, Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PHRMA) points out such products are not that easy to develop. There are various hurdles that must be cleared. PHRMA stated new medicines used to treat these diseases “are the result of medical research and development that can take as long as 15 years and cost nearly $1 billion to bring a new medicine from the laboratory to a pharmacy shelf.”

A Business %26amp; Media Institute study found while covering everything from medical “controversies” to breakthroughs, nearly 80 percent of the stories excluded the viewpoint of the pharmaceutical industry, failing to include either a company statement or a company spokesman.

i would have thought they would blame bush first, then everyone else next
Reply:It seems to me that the Johns Hopkins doctor you quoted is the one who put the anti-pharmaceutical company spin on the matter. To me, his statement seems fairly convincing and logical.

Reply:That just goes to show you that the reporter did not do her homework for the story. She obviously has no clue about drug resistant bacterial strains and about the process involved in developing a vaccine.
Reply:wow...I do not like the pharmaceutical industry.Especially since they never even cured anything to my knowledge...I have to think of a conversation I had with a leadin R%26amp;D person from a major pharmaceutical company...He said:"...the industry has no intention of curing anything. It's just not profitable."

Reply:This is one of the most annoying thing about liberals and that is their inability to place the blame where it belongs!! It's like that with everything! How so they expect any changes when they refuse to put it in the right place?
Reply:Well, there is a reason that that strain of TB is med resistant and a variety of other illnesses are med resistant.

The pharmectical companies have created nation that is dependent on pills, watch commercials and thinks that they need said pills.

Think about how much less Zyrtek would cost without the administrative overhead, the commercials, the overpaid pharmecutical reps, and no more of those darn pens.

The kitchen style taps usually goes hand in hand with kitchen cabinets, sink or home appliances as a whole complete kitchen set. Therefore, we provide a wide range of design in kitchen taps to match market demands accordingly. Although there are different functions and features in kitchen taps including pull out, pull down, spout high and spout low. We believe outstanding product design would eventually catch consumers’ eyes and attentions.

6 Thermal Faucet

We found out that the price level of thermal faucet and normal faucet are slightly different in retailer shops. However, in terms of scope of design style, there are limited selections in most of retailer channels, except showrooms. In the long term, the thermal faucets would be the main trend because the price is similar to non-thermal function. If so, we consider that the design will be consumer’s first priority. That is the reason we develop wide scale selections to meet customers’ demands.

(asking customers what is the target market demand, thermal or non-thermal? if the price is close.)

7. Sliding Bar

No matter in America, UK, Germany, the space of plastic shower program in retail stores is, the rotation rate and profit of sliding bars are quite high for retail stores themselves after our marketing research. Two years ago, manufacturers did design match with basin but didn’t bring too much bright effect. This year, we develop not only function-plus but also well-designed sliding bar as an adding value to stimulate customer’s purchasing desire.

Haunted by old debt - please help?

Car got repossed in 2002 due to unemployment. It magically appeared on my report under a new collection agency – 4 years later – in essense reaging the debt. I asked for validation of debt – they sent it to me 2 months later. In 6 months, they have sent me 2 letters, the letter stating they had the account and the validation letter. They have never called me, but they are on point every month when they deface my otherwise-good credit report. Do I have any options? They don’t seem to want to negotiate a smaller sum, and 4 years later seems ridiculous to be asking for a full amount.

I have been thinking about a lawsuit. Been doing a lot of research and have been learning that this is becoming a huge national trend. And yet there seems to be no vocal support for the consumer. Do u know any org's that advocate consumer financial rights with some clout in Washington perhaps? Any one have any suggestions on my issue?

Haunted by old debt - please help?
Get in touch with your creditors and make a payment plan with them let them know you are willing to pay so much each month and you could get several jobs inorder to get your self straight or else you will forever be haunted with old debts,
Reply:You need to check your state's statute of limitations by going to http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/... 4 years may be the limit; therefore their claim is legally invalid. When they validated the debt, you actually received a copy of the original contract? If you don't plan on applying for any lines of credit, I suggest waiting for it to fall off your credit report.
Reply:From your description it doesn't look like you have a case.

True, the collection agent must notify you prior to collection efforts. This gives you a 30 day "stay" preventing them from taking collection action. But now that the 30 days is up, they are clear.

Their defense will be that they sent the notice by 1st class mail to the last known address. Post office must have lost it. They are not required to use certified mail for this notice.

Next, you have the right to demand validation. This does not stop them from collecting from you, it's mainly a tool to get a credit item removed from your credit reports. And since you claim they did validate the debt (2 months later) that have them covered.

At best, you could sue them for not having the validation within 30 days, but unless you have a very liberal judge it's not going anywhere. The debt was correct, the listing is correct, and the judge will be very unhappy you are wasting his time.

Debts can be reported on your credit for 7 years, beginning on the date of the delinquency. So I don't see where you have any case against this CA. Sorry.
Reply:First things first: don't pay them anything. The original creditor wrote it off as a loss, and they bought the debt. You don't owe them...paying it will not do nothing for your credit, and after 4 years, you're right, if they aren't going to negotiate then too bad. Let them update the status of your credit every month if they want to....they are just trying to get you to bite. Don't fall for it.

Speaking of status, this won't re-age the debt. When a debt goes to collections, every collection agency MUST provide the date of 1st delinquency of the original debt, so it doesn't remain on your reports longer than the 7 year time frame. If you can't get it off by disputing or writing the BBB, I would wait out the time. A paid charge off is not much better than an unpaid one, and you can still get a mortgage with unpaid charge offs, as long as they are over 2 years old.

I would spend my hard earned money elsewhere as opposed to paying a 4-year old debt.

Are you sick of neo-cons putting down Liberals as useless?

How about some of these accomplishments:

Interstate Highway systems proposed by Roosevelt

Women's Right to Vote.

Come on Neo-Cons, show us your list.

Are you sick of neo-cons putting down Liberals as useless?
LMAO not ONE Republican (is it still alright to call you "Republican"? You havent changed it again to like "Repub-American" or "God-Fearing Pedophiles"?) could put down ANYTHING in the Republican list.

Here lemme help...

Medical Tort Reform (Means you can't sue your doctor for leaving a fork in you)

Outsourcing US jobs to China, Taiwan, India and Mexico (not real patriotic, but when money is your God, you do whatever you have to, including selling your country and your birthright down the drain, but it's ok, cuz yer makin' MONEY)

Patent Law Reform: Prescription drugs are exclusive to the company which invented them for 7 years, before cheaper generic versions my be introduced, it USED to be 5 years- Grandma says THANKS Repubs).

The "All Child Labor is Created Equal" Program, otherwise known as the "No 5 Year Old Left Behind When the Factory Needs Employees at $1.00 a week"

The Patriot Act (means if you dont act like a Patriot, theyll spy on you)

Union "Norming"- Labor Unions have been under attack for years from them- but it's ok because we can TRUST WalMart to pay their employees a living wage and pay them for all worked overtime (and they dont hire illegals);

Tax Breaks for the Ultra Wealthy (you know cuz Big Oil only made $160 Billion last year, of course they need our subsidies, WAY more than that working Mom with 2 kids over there in the Food Stamp line), while the rest of us schulbs pay higher STATE taxes to make up for the Federal shortfalls.

Cutting Soldiers' Pay and Benefits twice before giving a less than the cost of living increase in January (oops that was DEMS did that, sorry);

Vehemently supports the Military, just don't embarrass them by asking where and when they actually served, cuz they didn't (Making money was more important than defending the country);
Reply:Still doesn't differentiate between the great liberals of yesteryear, and the lunatic liberals we have today. Report Abuse

Reply:Neo-cons can't show you there list because they don't have one. All they care about are themselves. They are blind to anything else.
Reply:not really. i let them bark like the little puppies they are.
Reply:Remember that Neo-cons are liberals?

I have to mention that those are very beneficial to us as a whole. %26lt;---not sarcasm :)
Reply:They can't read anything that doesn't have bullet points so I doubt they will respond.

Beatiful list though.
Reply:If you don't want to be called useless. Get a job.

We don't want to pay higher taxes for your social hand-out programs.

Um, nice list.....does that mean liberals haven't done anything since the 1950's?
Reply:Nah, the more some of them post, the more sure I am that they will lose more seats in Congress along with the White House in 08'. They are currently doing for democrats what democrats can't do for their own party, pulling America together to vote against republicans.
Reply:I never said you were useless. Just ignorant and myopic.

Besides, many of the things you list would be considered blasphemously unConstitutional by the people who wrote the Constitution.

There is no Constitutional authorization whatsoever for the following government expenditures or usurpation of power:

Social Security

Tennessee Valley Project

Public Health

Morrill Land Grant Act

Rural Electrofication

Public Universities

Bank Deposit Insurance

Family and Medical Leave Act

Public Broadcasting

Universal Public Education

Also, as I point out, with not a small amount of schadenfreude, I look at the city Detroit as the ultimate result of "liberal" policies. Are you telling me that Detroit is the epitome of the "liberal" paradise?
Reply:And You think it quite ok to say "neocon"

when is the only other time you here the word neo?neo nazi

and your neolib tactics of attempting to make the right sound like nazis is disturbing and wrong

Im not syain you invented the term but youare using it
Reply:Since when did "the Liberals" give us the Internet?

The "internet" is a project funded and developed by the Department of Defense (and black programs of other agencies) as a way to monitor the activities of average Americans.
Reply:You are extremely naive to think that all of these are strictly liberal accomplishments. Scientific research, so all scientists are liberals? Space program is not yours, sorry. 50% of these are not even accomplishments they are entitlements and USELESS programs. The Internet? HA HA
Reply:how many democrats from back then would laugh at you for claiming to be a democrat. the republicans today are more like the democrats of old. the democrats today would have been put in prison back then
Reply:Don't confuse them with the facts. As long as they can get away with portraying liberals as lazy, godless, socialist babykillers, they will. Some of them may even believe their description is accurate.
Reply:Interesting that you have to go back into history before the Liberals were taken over by the Neo-Stalinists for a list of accomplishments.
Reply:well... I mean you don't even have to list it...

one will complain how liberals do "nothing"

then in the next question complain about all the "liberal programs" they are passing and have passed...

if they did "nothing" there wouldn't be anything for the conservatives to complain about...
Reply:I am sick of it. That last great Republican to improve this country was probably Eisenhower (you can thank him for the highways).

Here's Bush's list:

Department of Homeland Security

PATRIOT Act %26lt;---disaster

Pretty poor list compared with the one the asker has.
Reply:You mean well...I know that...but c'mon...you need to know they don't respond to logic and reason. Don't waste your time.
Reply:Good example of bloated government
Reply:YES!YES! and YES! Thanks, I needed that.....lol. Conservatives have what I fondly refer to as "selective memory".
Reply:Why do you think that all of the above were voted in 100% by Liberals or Democrats? You're giving credit to one party or group where credit is deserved by many, including Republicans and Conservatives. You also need to get your facts right. Where in the hell did you get the idea that the internet was the result of Democrats or Liberals? Contrary to popular belief, Al Gore didn't invent it. It was the brain child of the Pentagon (defense), something that most Liberals loathe funding. Many of the items on your list would not be law if it were not for the Republican/ Conservative vote. Don't forget that Civil Rights laws of the 1960's didn't have a chance of passage without the (mostly) Northern State's Repubilcan vote. The entire South was essentially controlled by the redneck-Ku-Klux-Klan wing of the Democratic party. Also, there are some things on your list that I would hesitate to claim credit for since they will ultimately result in more damage than good. Some even threaten to bankrupt the country, (like Social Security %26amp; Medicare). Do you really think that the Earned Income Tax Credit is an economic accomplishment? It's simply a welfare, redistribution of wealth scheme. Family Leave? Who cares - big deal. What was the national impact - hardly nothing. Don't forget that it was a Conservative who won the Cold War when all of the Liberals were sympathizing, cowering to or negotiating with Communist murdering thugs. Don't forget that it was a Democratic controlled congress that voted to pull out of Vietnam, which directly resulted in the rise of Pol Pot and the Killing Fields in Vietnam. Also, don't forget that a Liberal Democrat President, Jimmy Carter gave away the Panama Canal (which the Communist Chinese now control) and almost single-handedly destroyed out economy. Interest rates were high, inflation was sky-rocketing. Are you proud that Liberals have essentially ignored the 10th Amendment in the Bill of Rights that limits Federal powers? Are you proud of Liberal Supreme Court judges who ignore the Constitution and refer to their own biases and predjudices to make law rather than to interpret law? Make sure that you give credit to Liberal %26amp; Democrat blunders as well as successes. Is the next Liberal (Socialist) accomplishment going to be Universal Healthcare? Are the Liberal Democrats going to shove that Socialist boondogle down our throats even though it's failed to contain costs and maintain or increase quality of care in every country thats tried it? The answer is yes, because Socialists, which modern Liberals essentially are, think that all problems can be solved by government or centralized action. You take power and choice away from the people and give it to a relatively few politicians. You help create tax (increase) policies that burden small businesses and punish achievment. Yeah, you Socialists certainly have a lot to be proud of.
Reply:Us Neo-Cons?

Well we supported that mistaken war!!!! Yeah, and we are working hard to make sure that kids stricken with diabetes will NOT get to pursue stem cell research because we care more about the well being of those little cells then we do for the actual people today suffering diseases!!!* We are working towards making not some, but ALL Americans follow and obey OUR beliefs in Christianity. FYI, the creator of the universe hates homosexuals. Fun fact!!

We believe in taking care of the poor!!(that's about as far as we go. We actually don't take care of anybody but ourselves....shhhhh....nobody is supposed to know that part...hee hee). We support killing innocent woman and children in the name of WAR!!!!.....as long as we don't have to hear about it, see it or acknowledge it, and we like to believe that those same people love us. If they don't, then they're terrorists and deserve to die. Did I mention we love everyone!!!**

So there you go Libs. Beat that!!! HAHA.

Just to show our support for the needy, tonight we are going to burn a lower cased "t" at my compound.*** Everyone is invited!!!
Reply:The Republican list:

The Gulf War because Saddam believed Bush.

Military bases in Saudi Arabia which angered Al Qaeda

Attack on WTC

Attack on U.S.S. Cole

Attack on U.S. Embassy

9/11

Closed the military bases in Saudi Arabia.

Afghanistan War

Iraq War

12 million illegals
Reply:I see you include mostly programs that take money from successful people and give it to those who are not.

I did notice you are now taking credit for "The Internet"...You guys usually get mad when we laugh at you about that.

Gosh, and Cons never supported anything else.. Pathetic you folks are...

Just 1 thing on our Con list that NEEDS to be said, that provides you with all your "Social Remedies". And makes all these things possible. You will need a Dictionary though as it is not part of your vocabulary....Ready???...

CAPITALISM.....

Thank you for one more time giving us Conservatives a great laugh. Have a great day!!!!!
Reply:Not all conservatives put down liberals as useless. If they did it on answers, they wouldn't be on here long.
Reply:Just look at your list, Women's right to vote? This was supported by William Howard Taft, a republican and was made legal under Woodrow Wilson. The Internet? Just because Al Gore said he invented it doesn't make it true. The space program has been supported by many presidents. Didn't President Bush just say he wanted the US to make a landing base on the moon then go to Mars? You put environmental laws, which was started by Theodore Roosevelt after putting thousands of acres aside for the first national parks, and he also started food safety laws by having meat plants inspected after the book "The Jungle" came out and showed how dirty the work areas were and also for the first time in US history made company's put labels on their food items so you know what you are eating and what's in it. Were you sleeping through history class?
Reply:we are just another boogeyman that they fear. it really don't bother me,it shows they are unable to think that there is more to life than what they believe. it only appears to be a larger group attacking libs,it is really a small grouop with multiple accounts.
Reply:What I am sick of is people saying other people are useless solely because they have a different opinion on something. There are many ways to look at one thing, and the sooner we have a President that realizes that, the better.
Reply:I think our problem with the Libs, is that they've changed since the Vietnam War.

Pre-Vietnam, Liberals were strong on National Security, confronting our enemies, believed America was the shining light of the world, wanted to lead the world towards freedom, and were basically pro-capitalism (with new gov't programs thrown in.)

Post Vietnam liberals are spineless when it comes to National Security, want to appease our enemies, believe that America is the problem of the world, want the UN to lead the world, and are anti-capitalism.

I looked over your list. Liberals are responsible for the internet? Explain that one.

Most of the programs on your list can be credited to the Pre-Vietnam liberals. Can you show me a list of good liberal programs that aren't at least 30 years old?

What programs are today's liberals trying to accomplish? Gay Marriage

Tax increases

Abortion on Demand

Blaming America for 9/11

Surrendering in Iraq

Not quite the noble list as the old style liberals, huh?
Reply:Yeah, you can only belabour the obvious so much before it just gets anoying.
Reply:No abortions

No gay marriage

Tax cuts

Global war

...that's all I got...then again, I'm not one of them.
