Survey Says, what do mother's of 0-5year olds want?

I'm conducting a "field" survey for marketing research. My sister approached me about starting a business; she finances it and I come up with the "product". However, she is looking at focusing on a perticular market. In order to best suit the needs of consumers, I'm posting this question in hopes of receiving constructive feedback.





If you are a mother of a child from birth to age 5 years, I'd like to know what product/service/etc. would you like to see avalible to you and your child. Please include you location and what class you fall in (lower, middle, upper). This will hopefully help us to come up with an idea that will benefit all social classes. All ideas will be looked at and considered, serious/realistic ideas only please. Thank you for you time, creative mind, and feedback.

I would like a coffee shop that caters to moms with young children. Something that has a play area in it where the kids can go while the moms chat.
Reply:I'm middle class. I would like to see some outdoorsy programs for mothers/children. It's so hard to get out and about when you don't have field trips yet. I would love that kind of service but I don't think that's what you're looking for.





A product that I would use...something that is simply designed for the sole purpose to divide infant/toddler/preschool food up into bite sided portions. I know this sounds crazy but it can be a pain to cut up the food you are cooking when you have two children under five. It would be nice to find something that was actually efficient and provided the correct results.





Another club I'd be interested in is one that is for big brothers/sisters. This would be something where brothers and sisters could bond together.

ETA--I just thought of one. A stroller that is sit/stand. It's like something where a child or infant can sit in the front and the toddler can either sit or stand on the back. They already have these but I have a few improvements. I would add an attachment to make the infant portion able to use the infant car seat. I would make it a little more compact when folded. I would add compartments on it. I would also like to see a stroller where you can reach in to get the stuff out from the front.
Reply:emergency kit for the car w/ change of clothes (t-shirt %26amp; shorts or a one piece thing), wipes, pull-up, bandaids, one does fever reducer, all packaged in a ziplock bag that can be used to put wet clothes in if needed. I have a two year old and a four year old and I have these survival kits under my seats for both kids. we're past the diaper bag age, but not past the accidents %26amp; boo-boo stage.
Reply:I couldnt think of products that arent available but what about shopping centers offering childcare while you shop.
Reply:This may not help but years ago I wanted to see a baby sitting area incorporated with a nice restaurant. Mom and Dad have a nice quiet dinner, kiddie gets chicken nuggets, a playroom and someone watching them. Of course there would be a fee. Kind of like a coat check, but a kid check,lol. I mostly wanted to feel like an adult but did not want to leave my kids at home with a sitter very often because I just worried about them. A closed circuit TV to show the child care area would be comforting. Of course this would have to an upscale restaurant, not Denny's.


I live in San Diego and would fall into the upper middle class.
Reply:Sorry I don't live in the USA, but I think this would be good in all areas for any young mother who is always concerned about weight after having a baby.





Some kind of outdoor/indoor group of moms and bubs that can get together for socializing and group kid/mom friendly excersize classes which invove everyone. It would help the mother lose her post baby fat, and give the child a good start in life learning to like being active. It would also serve a purpose for quality time with the kids.
Reply:Drive through convenience stores, like a 7-11. Sometimes you just need to grab 1 or 2 quick items, theres noone around to sit for a few, and putting the baby in and out and back in and out of the carseat is a hassle.

Reply:My sister was always looking for PRETTY maternity clothes (nice blouses, pants, dresses) and they all looked just plain and expensive. Also for post-birth pants that have that extra give around the waist without making you look like you have a big butt.
