Do you believe in modern medicine?

For many years now I have become more and more skeptical about modern medicine. Will we have a cure for cancer? Will we have a cure for AIDS? I think no, the reason is similar to the one of oil but not exactually the same. If I produce oil do I want the electric car? No way.

If I produce medicines that treat people (keep them alive), so they must continue to buy them, or do I produce medicines that cure illnesses outright? I think the former. If you look at all the great discoveries in the last century they were by single scientists, now all medical research is done by pharmaceutical companies whose main goal is profit. I have no problem with profit, but why introduce something that kills profits?

People say but if they find the cure for cancer they will be rich, yes, but one will be rich, the others will go out of business, so why not join forces through agreements or acquisitions to make sure that the consumer keeps buying.

What do you think?

Do you believe in modern medicine?
great thoughts. i agree, pharmaceutical companies r only after profit. doctors r often bribed by companies 2 recommend their product. it's all about profit, not actual healing. besides, many modern medicines do more harm than good. maybe they target whatever they were made to target, but they have such horrible side effects... overall, more natural approaches 2 healing r better %26amp; more gentle. i don't at all trust these huge corporations churning out chemical medication 2 try 2 keep me alive but in pain. kinda defeats the purpose of medicine, don't it?
Reply:I hear ya. It's why doctors don't recommend prevention (by suggesting people reduce or eliminate animal products) instead of medication, medication, medication.
Reply:yes and they have discovered a curee for some cancers..
